From Hamburg near the North Sea we drove to Lübeck on the Baltic Sea. Historians tell us the origins of the all important Hanseatic League is connected to the rebuilding of the town of Lübeck in 1159 by the powerful Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria.
